Program
THE LTER Program
The mission of the Network is to deliver to the scientific community,
policy makers and society in general, sound scientific information and
predictions on ecological processes needed to promote the sustainable
management of ecosystems, their biodiversity and services they provide.
The goals of the LTER HU Network in accordance with the goals of the ILTER Network:
- To better answer critical environmental questions and solve problems by creating well-documented and easily accessible scientific databases,
- To meet societal needs by synthesis of information and development of theory,
- To create legacy of well-designed and documented long-term observations and experiments and archives of samples against which to examine ecological changes in the future,
- To take effective part in the education of new generation of scientists and in raising awareness of the whole society,
- To develop and facilitate collaboration among ecological research networks of other countries and the ILTER.
